I saw the exhibition of Basquiat this week in Roppongi.
To tell the truth, I have been eager to see his works for more than a decade!
Here comes a chance!
I rushed to Roppongi Hills as if I were a commuter on a weekday.
I heard that the exhibition was very crowded, so I arrived at the Mori Art Museum 10 minutes before the opening.
The ticket office was not so busy as I foresaw.
I got relieved enough to feel the freshness of morning for the first time on that day.
After getting a ticket I walked into the venue and encountered his work “Donut revenge”.
I nearly dropped a tear. I got moved.
Apparently, Basquiat stayed in Tokyo.
The “Made in Japan” series of his works show direct and cynical expression not only in composition but in words.
Certainly,Basquiat’s works have speedy rustic expression.
Some of his paintings do not show his emotions in spite of the touch of his rough brush .
Basquiat, a talented artist who died due to a drug overdose in his twenties.
I think Basquiat was stuck in a culvert. It’s a shame that we could not see his work in his fifties or sixties…
If Basquiat were alive now, would he have drawn President Trump?
Basquiat’s President Trump can be easily visualized in my head. Haha!
As 50 minutes passed after the admission, the venue was flooded with a lot of spectators.
10年以上前から見たいと思っていた作家の展覧会！なにがあっても絶対行くと六本木ヒルズに平日の朝まるで仕事のように出かけた。
混んでいると聞いていたので開場１０分前に森美術館についた。
チケット売り場は思っていたより空いていた。少しほっとして朝の光を初めて肌で感じることができた。
中に入る。
“Donut revenge”
うるうる来た。
バスキアは東京に滞在していたことがあるみたいだった。
絵によってテンションが違う。
悲しみが強く感じられる絵がある。
表現が独特でバスキア独自の世界がある。
自分に迫ってこない作品もたくさんある。
Made in Japan 一連の作品は拝金主義へのシニカルかつ字の入った直接的な表現がみられる。
文字を使ったぶきらっぼうな表現の陰で、感情を閉ざすバスキアの後ろ姿を垣間見た。
若くして薬物でなくなった才能あふれる芸術家、バスキア。
バスキアは袋小路にはまっていたんだろうなぁ…。
バスキアが今生きていたら同じようにトランプ大統領の絵も描いただろうか？
バスキアのトランプ大統領の絵、私の頭の中で簡単に視覚化できてしまう。
入場後50分、会場はたくさんの観客の波に飲まれていた。
展覧会は2019年11月17日まで。
